Shakespeare Santa Cruz is ending one of their best seasons ever (some think the best!) next Sunday, August 30.

SSC is not offering a Holiday Show for your students and families this year but has two plays this summer that have the same kind of magic, fun and inspiration.
Shipwrecked! An Entertainment. The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told by Himself) stirs the imagination with an adventure story that is human, fun and makes audiences young and old think about adventure, fame, and the purpose of life.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s perennial favorite is given a new staging by SSC that has garnered glowing reviews from critics (the SF Chronicle gave it their highest rating and words like “dreamy,” “spectacular,” and “the magic of laughter” are being used) and people are saying that this was the best Midsummer they have ever seen.

The reviews are great from critics and especially from audiences. The prices are right (Youth, under 18, tickets are $13 and adult tickets start at $18 for Shipwrecked and $20 for Glen Rush tickets available for any performance of Midsummer). And the opportunity is this week only.

Performances Remaining
Shipwrecked! Has four performances left this week all in the evening (still fine for most kids, because it is a bit over ninety minutes with no intermission so it will be finished by about 9:15 on Wednesday and Sunday and 9:45 on the non-school nights of Friday and Saturday.)
--Wednesday (8/26) at 7:30 pm
--Friday (8/28) at 8:00 pm
--Saturday (8/29) at 8:00 pm
--Sunday (8/30) at 7:30 pm
It plays in the UCSC Theater Arts Mainstage where Youth tickets (under 18) are $13 and adult tickets start at $15 and $18. All seats are reserved

A Midsummer Night’s Dream has five more performances including two matinees:
--Thursday (8/27) at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
--Friday (8/28) at 8:00 pm
--Saturday (8/29) at 2:00 pm
--Sunday (8/30) at 2:00 pm
It plays outside in the Festival Glen at UCSC where Youth tickets (under 18) are $13 and Glen Rush tickets for $20 are available for adults an hour before each performance.

To Get Tickets
please go to http://www.santacruztickets.com or call or go to either the UCSC ticket office (459-2159) or the City of Santa Cruz Civic Box Office (420-5260). The Glen rush tickets are available on the day of the performance at the venue an hour before the performance.

The Play's The Thing: WEST Teens take ACTion

WEST Conservatory students know how valuable Shakespeare Santa Cruz (SSC) is to the Santa Cruz community. Inspired by their two week intensive study with SSC core acting company members and guest artists, WEST teens take ACTion, launching a campaign to increase show attendance at this year's season of plays: Midsummer Night's Dream, Julius Caesar and Shipwrecked. The focus of their effort is to improve public awareness of SSC production quality and affordable prices ($13 Youth tickets, $20 Adult Rush tickets for all performances and $15 select seating). WEST Teens hope to influence projected ticket sales by 1,000 between now and August 30th. The younger generation of artists will use their technological savvy and social media skills to promote the ancient art of live performance. More Information about the Shakespeare Santa Cruz shows, reviews and tickets.
